**About the role.**

At McCain, Packing Operators are business-critical team members who ensure the safe and efficient running of our packing lines for locally grown potato products. As part of our 24/7 facility in Timaru, you will join a small, supportive team maintaining product quality and safety standards. Your role is hands-on and fast-paced, involving machine operation and manual handling, with a focus on both teamwork and individual responsibility.

Full training will be provided, ensuring you have the knowledge and support needed to succeed in your role.

**What you’ll be doing.**

- Operate and troubleshoot packing equipment such as graders, weighers, baggers, case packers, tapers, coders, pallet wrappers, and labellers
- Accurately complete quality and operational documentation
- Maintain exceptional hygiene and food safety practices
- Proactively identify and report workplace hazards
- Uphold the line productivity, safety, and product quality
- Participate in a roster consisting of 12-hour shifts:

- 2 days (7am-7pm), 2 nights (7pm-7am), followed by 4 days off

- Perform manual handling tasks as required
- Solve operational problems quickly and effectively
- Collaborate with teammates, supporting a safe and productive environment

**What you’ll need to be successful.**

- Strong commitment to health and safety as your top priority
- Previous machine operation experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Previous forklift operation experience (advantageous but not essential)
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Comfortable using simple touch screen controls as part of daily tasks
- Good computer and data entry skills
- Clear communication and a positive, team-focused attitude
- Willingness to learn, with demonstrated initiative and reliability
- Sufficient strength and fitness to manage role’s physical demands
- Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
- Ability to undergo pre-employment medical, drug screening, and reference checks
