**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a permanent, part-time (0.5FTE) opportunity to join our Hauora Māori Tūmatanui team as a **Kaitohutohu Matua (Senior Advisor), **reporting to the Kairuruku Matua. The primary purpose of the Kaitohutohu Matua role is to provide Secretariat support to the National Kaitiaki Group (NKG) which in turn, supports the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
The NKG is a legislated group established under the Health Cervical Screening (Kaitiaki) Regulations 1995, directly accountable to the Associate Minister of Health. As a key partner of the National Cervical Screening Programme, the NKG holds an important role in Māori data governance and in supporting the development of processes that strengthen Māori data governance for National Cervical Screening Programme Register data.

Are you passionate and enthusiastic about improving health outcomes for wahine and supporting Māori and whanau Māori?
You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of swiftly assembling and synthesizing diverse information, knowledge, and analysis. You will be entrusted with handing complex, sensitive information, showcasing your unwavering drive to deliver results and take ownership of critical tasks.
You will play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and partnerships both within our organisation and with external stakeholders. You will be committed to whakawhanaungatanga and kaitiakitanga. One of your core skills will be building constructive relationships that are based on an understanding and an active approach to the use of te Reo Maori, tikanga and kawa.
You are a motivated individual who thrives on tackling challenging issues, fostering connections and giving effect to Pae Ora through leadership that is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A recognised health, mātauranga Māori or related tertiary qualification
- Understanding of kawa and tikanga and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi & some experience working in partnership with iwi & Māori communities.
- A knowledge of cancer screening or a willingness to learn.
