Purpose of this position...
The primary purpose of this role is to provide expert advice on Customs' organisational performance and reporting. You will be responsible for leading the further development and implementation of an agency wide Performance Measurement Framework which ensures we track our progress against our strategic objectives. You will deliver high quality analysis, insights and reporting which will help the organisation understand its performance and deliver on its objectives. You will also be responsible for reporting Customs' performance information to the Minister quarterly and to the public through the Annual Report. This role is the lead performance advisor in the team and involves mentoring others in the team.
The relevant skills and experience required to perform this role include...
- Strong understanding of central government and general knowledge of the Public Service Act 2020 and responsibilities under the Public Finance Act;
- Proven experience in planning, performance and reporting from a similar role;
- Can translate priorities to strategies and plans and can demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing high level corporate planning and performance measurement methodologies;
- Proven ability to project manage key initiatives and the ability to work with people across all levels of the organisation;
- Experienced in mentoring junior team members;
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to foster good stakeholder relationships both internally and externally;
- Able to achieve timely results and outcomes (often with tight timeframes);
- Analytical and the capacity to undertake high level research and the ability to produce high quality and accurate reports/papers;
- A good communicator both written and verbal;
- An art of presenting complex issues, clearly and to meet the audience needs;
- Agile and able to work in a high paced environment with changing priorities with a can do
