Senior & Principal Advisors

**X1 Principal Advisor (Permanent)**
**X2 Senior Advisors (x1 Fixed Term 12 months & 1x Permanent)**
**Family Violence and Sexual Violence, Te Puna Aonui**
**National Office, Wellington**
**Te āhuatunga a te tūranga/About the Role**
Principal and Senior Advisors work as part of a multi-disciplinary and flexible policy and practice team working through strong relationships to influence others and to build support and ownership for shared, collective advice to Government on policy, strategic direction, investment, funding, and implementation that will help to eliminate family violence and sexual violence.
Last year Te Puna Aonui launched Te Aorerekura: The National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence. These positions are responsible for providing policy advice and leadership on significant workstreams that will help Te Puna Aonui achieve transformative change to eliminate family violence and sexual violence, especially through working in partnerships across the family violence and sexual violence sector and with our Joint Venture and broader government agency colleagues.
The Principal and Senior Advisors will ensure that advice is evidence based and best practice, grounded in the diverse and collective views of Joint Venture agencies, and brings in the voice of citizens. They will work flexibly with Te Puna Aonui team members, broader Joint Venture agencies, and others as required, to deliver on significant activities and projects.
Crown-Māori partnerships, Joint Venture relationships and collaboration, systems thinking and incorporating the voices of New Zealanders are critical to the success of Te Puna Aonui. At all levels, it is expected that advisors employed by Te Puna Aonui will ensure these are proactively considered and included in everyday work.
These roles will sit in our Budget and Investment team, and in our cross-agency implementation space. The work will involve:
**Learning and Monitoring (x1 Principal)**:
With the launch of Te Aorerekura, we are on a journey to work collaboratively with government, tangata whenua, the sectors and communities to achieve the Strategy's moemoeā. A key part of this is developing a monitoring, accountability, learning and improving system. This requires helping us shape the key components of the system, how they connect, how we manage data, how we treat what people tell us as taonga and how we use a range of data to improve the family violence and sexual violence system. The principal will be responsible for the thought leadership as to how we implement as a joint venture and how we use the different levers available to us. This is an exciting new role, in an exciting new space that looks to ensure the changes heralded in Te Aorerekura are realised.
**Budget and Investment Plan (x1 Senior - Fixed term)**:
The Budget and Investment Plan team plays a pivotal role in supporting the long-term strategic and funding approach to delivering on Te Aorerekura. The work is diverse and challenging, with exciting opportunities to lead, shape, and collaborate. There are challenging policy, thought leadership, and engagement opportunities across our multi-agency Budget process, and to develop a new strategic approach to investing, across government, with tangata whenua, and through communities, in change to eliminate family violence and sexual violence over a generation. This context provides a unique perspective and will bring with it opportunities over the coming year to support strategic advice across the organisation as we work to advise an incoming government and move to thinking about the approach for a second action plan.
**Work with communities and the specialist sectors (x1 Senior - Permanent)**:
A big part of Te Aorerekura is how we engage and value communities to prevent and respond to violence. Over the past two years we have worked more closely with communities and the specialist sectors on system change. This role works across a range of communities and the specialist sectors to ensure their voices are part of the learning and monitoring system, and that they are involved in the work we do that matters to them.
**He pūkenga tou/Skills and Experience**
- A strong understanding of the research and evidence base associated with family violence and sexual violence for Māori, or ability to develop this understanding
- A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
- A demonstrable commitment to ongoing professional development
- Establishing and maintaining a range of effective internal and external business relationships and networks
- Ability to read, understand and interpret complex documents, including legislation, financial, numerical and business information
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
**Work Experience**
- Demonstrable policy or public-sector experience and/or demonstrable experience in a relevant field
- Proven experience in providing intellectual and professio
