Do you want to be part of a senior nursing management team in a supportive environment' This role would suit a registered nurse who is looking to progress into management or the next level. We have decided to employ a Nurse Unit Manager to assist the Clinical Coordinator in providing support and oversight at our 60 bed facility in Halswell. The current Nurse Unit Managers each have responsibility for a unit of 1215 people and this role will be an extra to complimentthem and provide support, cover for leave and assist with the implementation of our quality programme.
St John of God Halswell provides hospital level care for people aged 16 to 65 living with a physical and/or neurological disability. Our 60 bed hospital level facility delivers residential and respite care as well as a transitional and rehabilitation service at our own Granada Centre where we work in close partnership with BIRS and Burwood Spinal Unit to support people from around New Zealand. Our skilled team employ a diversity of specialitiesto support people towards their goals of community living.
You will assist the existing Nurse Unit Managers to:
- Manage nursing and support staff to support best practicein all aspects of
- Participate and provide leadership in care planning, admissions and di
- Support the quality programme through assisting with audits, analysis, infection control, incident and accident reporting and management
- Ensure the units operatewithin budget constraints and that all resources are used in a responsible
- Support staff to meet orientation and education requirements as designated in the annual Workforce Development
- Attend relevant service courses (Mission workshops, fire safety and emergency training, infection control, first aid and back care education); and
- Ensure all activities that occur in the unit are appropriately aligned to meet all health and ability plans.
Skills and experience required:
- A current NZ Practising certificate and a minimum of 4 years experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Evidence of Leadership and/or management qualities including advanced problem solving, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain good relationships with residents, families and the wider team of internal and external partners.
- Outstanding communication and documentation skills including the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Previous clinical knowledge and practice within the disability or rehabilitative services preferred but not necessary.
