Here at the FMA, we are passionate about providing our employees with the opportunity to make an impact in a place where the quality of our work and the measure of our influence is second to none. We are committed to providing a dynamic, well-balanced and inspiring work environment to see you develop and succeed.

The FMA's remit and regulatory approach are expanding and evolving to have a stronger focus on conduct. We're currently on an exciting journey, to enable the growth of our organisation.

The Role - Te Tūranga

Right now, we're searching for an exceptional Solicitor/Senior Solicitor to join our Governance Team, which sits within the wider General Counsel function at FMA. This is a permanent position with the option to be Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch based.

As a Solicitor/Senior in our Governance team, you'll play a valuable role in supporting the FMA Board and Committee processes, ensuring internal policies and systems encourage best practice, advising on procurement by the FMA, and dealing with information requests (particularly Official Information and Privacy Act requests, and requests from other agencies including under International Cooperation Agreements).

About you - Ō pūkenga

You will have a keen interest in effective regulation and ultimately in strengthening New Zealand's economy. We are open to considering solicitors with a range of experience who are tertiary qualified in law, with a current Practicing Certificate or ability to obtain one. Those with 5+ years' PQE and relevant work experience can be considered for a Senior position.

Ideally, you'll have several years' experience working in a comparable environment - such as, financial services, other regulatory agencies, the wider public sector or commercial in-house environment.

A background in contract review, public sector procurement, governance or board secretarial duties will also be highly favoured, as will experience within a public sector entity dealing with information requests.

What we offer - Ngā painga

The work we're involved in is as challenging as it is interesting. You'll be joining a team of experienced professionals who love what they do. The FMA has strong emphasis on work/life balance, offering flexible working arrangements and ongoing opportunities for learning and career progression.
