ACC touches the lives of a large number of New Zealanders. The health, rehabilitation and service providers who help people who are injured, the businesses, vehicle owners and workers who contribute to the Accident Compensation Scheme ( **Scheme **), and any New Zealander or visitor to New Zealand who’s injured in an accident.

We’re committed to the Treaty of Waitangi / te Tiriti o Waitangi ( **Te Tiriti **) by providing space for mātauranga Māori based approaches to lead, support and develop approaches, tools, actions and knowledge that creates space for Māori and Tangata Tiriti (non-Māori).

**Mō tenei tūrana mahi | About this role**:
The Scheme Legal team is part of the larger ACC Legal function. We advise on complex strategic and operational matters relating to the running of the Scheme.

Given the breadth and complexity of our work, we are looking for someone with exceptional communication skills, who can build strong relationships and work collaboratively. Your ability to focus on the big issues and provide simple, solutions focused advice will fit well with us.

**Ko wai koe **| About you**:
To succeed in this role, you’ll have:

- Knowledge of ACC, public sector legislation, and the wider system within which ACC operates.
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti as it applies in the public sector.
- Proven ability to interpret complex legislation and synthesise it so it can be easily translated, understood, and operationalised.
- Strong experience and confidence engaging, influencing, and advising at senior leadership levels as well as the skills and ability to work with diverse teams and people organisation wide.
- High levels of customer focus, initiative, and self-motivation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- An awareness of issues related to people with disabilities and experience working in an environment requiring cultural and social awareness.
- A tertiary qualification in law with 8-10 years post qualification experience.
- A current New Zealand Law Society practicing certificate, or eligibility to hold one.

The base salary range for this role is approximately $114k - $160k with 9% superannuation and flexible working conditions.
