**About the Role**
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on **Chemistry Laboratory Technician** to join our **Chemistry and Physics Research Group**. This is an exciting opportunity to support and contribute to world-class research in synthetic chemistry, biomaterials, and functional surface technologies. You will be part of a team developing innovative coating and printing formulations, as well as supporting a range of internal and commercial research projects.

**What you'll do**:
- Perform synthetic chemistry tasks, including material synthesis, purification, and analysis.
- Surface treatment and testing of various substrate materials (e.g., bioplastics, paper, cardboard).
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments (e.g., NMR, GC, HPLC, FTIR, microscopy).
- Maintain accurate lab records, support project reporting, and contribute to science publications.
- Ensure compliance with Scion's Health & Safety, HSNO, and chemical waste management protocols.
- Collaborate with scientists and technicians to ensure smooth lab operations and shared goals.
- Participate in chemical inventory, equipment care, and general laboratory upkeep.
**You'll bring**:
- ** Bachelor's degree (BSc) in Chemistry** or equivalent qualification.
- Practical experience in synthetic organic chemistry and hands-on lab work (6+ months preferred).
- Competence with chemical analysis techniques (e.g., NMR, GC, FTIR, HPLC, microscopy).
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to maintain data integrity.
- Understanding of chemical safety and a proactive approach to lab health and safety.
- Team player mindset with good communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Ability to work independently once trained, with a practical and solutions-focused approach.
