Wellington City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Mō te tūnga | About the role
We need someone with the ‘4Ps' - passion, perseverance, persistence and patience, to contribute to making NZDF's Data and Information Vision a statement of fact.
The NZDF has a vast and growing body of data and information unlike any other organisation in New Zealand and exploiting to maximum effect impacts on the safety and security of our personnel, our ability to work hand in hand with our strategic partners, and the efficient running of every part of the Defence Force.
This is a 24-month fixed term agreement where you will be part of the leadership team of the Knowledge and Information Management Directorate (KIMD) within the Defence Digital Group. It will ensure that our DAIM functions are integrated into NZDF in a way that that is appropriate to our context as a military organisation and, in return, ensure that the military is making optimal use of those functions.

**Duties for this role will include**:

- Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the DAIM components of NZDF's strategic capabilities;
- Be the expert military advisor to the CDO, working with the Services and Joint Forces to understand their DAIM needs;
- Work with Defence Digital Group's (DDG) Business Owners to ensure DAIM input into new and existing capability delivery roadmaps;
- Develop strong relationships with the Information Warfare Domain and Capability Branch ensuring there is DAIM input into established and planned Capability projects and programmes; and

You are recognised as a trusted advisor with a pan-Service network that you can harness and you are comfortable working with the fluidity and uncertainty that comes with delivering transformational change.
You want to be part of a leadership team committed to intent-based leadership realised by providing holistic leadership to the Directorate (not just your practice) and the delivery of data, analytics and information management expertise to the NZDF.
You actively create psychologically safe environments for people to work together and appreciate the importance of harnessing the power of diversity, innovation and creativity to enable delivery teams to achieve their productive potential. You are an advocate for innovation, creativity and experimentation and understand that failure is healthy and that this attitude contributes to success.

**Ideally, you will have**:

- 15 years plus experience in a military organisation (circa LTCOL (E) or WO1) and are looking for an opportunity to gain experience in a civilian role;
- Knowledge of data, analytics and information management disciplines and compliance requirements, particularly in an operational context;
- Experience working collaboratively across the Services, Joint Forces and NZDF Portfolios in both corporate and military contexts; and

As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.
