The Haematology Service has an established, dynamic and growing haematology department based at North Shore Hospital. Clinical areas include malignant haematology, a large acute thrombosis service as well as general haematology. It has an active research department with studies in both malignant haematology and thrombosis.
Te Whatu Ora Waitematā is now recruiting for a part-time 0.5 FTE **Clinical** Nurse Specialist - Thrombosis for the Haematology Service.
The responsibilities of the successful applicant to the CNS role will include education and case management of patients in the acute thrombosis service. This role covers clinical advice, assessment and treatment of potential and confirmed cases of venous thromboembolism, follow-up at the end of treatment and prophylaxis regimes as required. This will involve a close working relationship with primary care and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a smooth transition of care. The role will also involve long term management of malignancy and also pregnancy related venous thromboembolism patients.
The successful applicant will have extensive experience in nursing at a senior level and experience in haematology and have undertaken a post graduate certificate to advance their knowledge. Applicants should have a reputation for positive and dynamic approach to teaching and learning, development of resources and monitoring of practice to provide safe and effective nursing care.
The appointee will have a key role in the acute thrombosis service, maintenance and development of protocols and educational initiatives, and mentoring of junior staff. He or she will be expected to contribute to staff training, review of standards of practice, documentation and review of issues.
