The Day
Stay Unit at Nelson Hospital provides services for all surgery day cases, day
of admission surgery, medical day cases, radiological procedures and numerous
infusion services. We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person
to join the unit working 72 hours a fortnight (0.9FTE). Shifts will be rostered and rotating Monday
to Friday.
As
a Health Care Assistant you will be part of our dedicated nursing environment
with full support. Your role is to work within the team to assist nursing staff
in care delivery, one-to-one patient watches and other tasks as directed.
Every
day is different and our nursing team enjoys the variety of work, the people
they interact with, and giving each patient the best patient experience they can.

You
will have a positive and mature outlook and the ability to get on with a wide
variety of people. You will have excellent communication skills and will work
in a flexible and methodical manner, demonstrate honesty and reliability, and appropriate
use of initiative.
Experience
within the health sector is preferred, but is not essential as full training
will be provided.

**Qualifications**:
Essential
- Year 11

NCEA level 1 English (or equivalent)
- Year 11
NCEA level 1 Maths (or equivalent)
- NZQA
level 3 qualification (or equivalent)*Desirable
- Home

Carer Certificate (or equivalent)Mandatory
requirement

**Level 3**: New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - Health Assistance
Strand, if not previously obtained, is to be
commenced once orientations have been attended.
Te Whatu Ora staff are required to have completed their primary course of two NZ approved COVID-19 vaccinations.

The full-time equivalent salary for this role is $51,770 to $61,540 based on the NZNO Nursing & Midwifery MECA, dependent on relevant qualifications and experience.
