We’re looking for a Principal Engineer to help us deliver our vision of super simple experiences for Kiwibank customers and frontline staff.

Sitting at the top of our engineering career pathway, this role is for a proven technical leader who has influenced and driven transformational engineering projects at scale. You’ll combine hands-on technical expertise with high-level leadership and expert stakeholder management, guiding our Digital & Technology teams to deliver exceptional, reliable, and scalable solutions.

From shaping architecture to mentoring engineers, you’ll lead by example — owning the balance between quality engineering and delivering critical outcomes. You’ll be a trusted voice in strategic decision-making while still staying close to the code when it matters most.

- Key skills and experience we’re looking for:_
- A strong background in global SAAS solutions such as MS Dynamics, Salesforce, Service Now and Genesys.
- Proven track record leading engineering teams and motivating others in an Agile and/or DevSecOps environment
- Expertise in domain-driven design, implementation, and integration
- Advanced skills in a modern programming language and frameworks (ideally C#/.NET Core)
- Extensive cloud experience to drive repeatability, scalability, and reliability in production infrastructure
- Significant experience with CI/CD, declarative deployment, and built-in automated quality and security
- Ability to educate, consult, and advocate for good tooling practices across engineering teams
- Experience identifying architecturally significant requirements, managing trade-offs, and delivering robust solutions
- Skilled at spotting and delivering opportunities for business improvement
- Bonus (not essential but advantageous):_
- Experience working across customer business and technical domains
- Financial services sector experience
