Older Person's Health and Rehabilitation is situated on the outskirts of Christchurch, Burwood Hospital is located in attractive grounds providing a large and diverse range of inpatient and outpatient services for all ages of our community, including surgical services and radiology facilities. Our role is pivotal in providing support to the service, and assist patients and their whanau throughout their healthcare journey.
The Burwood Hospital Volunteers Incorporated ( - the Society - ) is a society of volunteers providing charitable services to Burwood Hospital patients, visitors and staff. The Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation Volunteer Coordinator assists the Society and manages the volunteer workforce, ensuring that activities and services are coordinated in a manner that is efficient and provides a supportive and caring service for inpatients, outpatients, visitors and staff. This includes recruitment and coordination of volunteers; planning and coordination of the volunteer programme of activities; and close collaboration with the Burwood Hospital Shop Coordinator.
This position permanent part-time working 24 hours per week
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- All relevant administration, communication and promotion for the Volunteer Service is completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Financial aspects of the Society are recorded accurately
- Promoting of the Volunteer roles to increase awareness of the Volunteer services
- Development of supportive and positive relationships with the volunteers.
- To interview, process, place and support suitable volunteers

Your skills will include:
**Essential**
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills.
- Intermediate computer skills, including programmes within the MS Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of professional and social boundaries.
- Experience in coordinating and/or managing people - both employed and volunteer staff.
- Experience of working with the public (i.e. customer services).
- Understanding and experience of financial management, including stocktaking, accounts presentation.
- Ability to use sound judgement and experience to problem solve everyday issues.
- Ability to manage busy workflow for self and others and to make independent decisions based on established processes.
- Ability to positively interact with others.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible to organisational needs and day to day challenges.
- Ability to be proactive in planning to meet organisational needs.
- Ability to physically undertake the manual tasks within the role (i.e. lifting, stock handling etc.).
- Experience in an in an industry undergoing rapid change and/or involved in change management.
