We have an opportunity for a Senior Compliance Officer to join our team.' You will work as part of a connected team to deliver effective regulatory management through monitoring the compliance of transport service licence holders and drivers of heavy vehicles and passenger services.'
This is a great opportunity to undertake meaningful work in a collaborative environment. 'In this role you will monitor and examine commercial transport operators, commercial driver licence and endorsement holders and produce robust reports for Operators and NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA). In addition, you will provide education to transport operators to assist them to comply and, when necessary, take regulatory action to improve compliance. Responsibilities include:
- Undertaking proactive assessments of licensed commercial transport operators
- Developing and managing effective relationships with assigned transport service licence holders and relevant key stakeholders
Travel is a key part of this role and you will be regularly engaging with operators in the Central North Island operating area as and when required. You must have a full driver licence, with no convictions.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $91,328 to $111,622 commensurate to skills and experience.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced regulator with understanding and knowledge of transport who is looking for their next challenge.' To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in systems-based thinking and analysis
- Experience in a regulatory, compliance and/or enforcement environment
- Detailed understanding and experience of regulatory principles and practices
- Experience in assessment (audit) planning, delivery and reporting
- Strong investigative, risk assurance or audit experience
- The ability to build relationships and appreciate different points of view
Demonstrated knowledge of, or a willingness to learn an understanding of Te Ao Maori and tikanga as well as to work towards fluency in Te Reo Maori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
**Qualifications**:
- Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in a regulatory compliance role
- New Zealand Certificate in Regulatory Compliance (Core Knowledge) or equivalent desirable

The Safer Commercial Transport team is responsible for regulating commercial transport operators: from heavy vehicles to small passenger services. We do this by monitoring our sector through audits, reviews and investigations and working with industry to drive best practice. The team regulates transport operators that have been licensed to operate as a transport service.
