We are seeking an experienced Emergency Management Manager to lead our shared civil defence service across Hauraki, Matamata-Piako, and South Waikato districts. This position offers the chance to shape emergency management across three diverse communities while working from multiple council locations.
About the role
Working across our three-district shared service arrangement, you'll facilitate CDEM delivery by collaborating with communities and agencies to build resilience against disasters. You'll lead and manage a dedicated emergency management team while developing and implementing emergency management plans aligned with the Waikato CDEM Plan, coordinate emergency responses, and build community preparedness programmes that make a real difference when emergencies occur.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be a current Controller or be willing to work towards becoming a Controller
- Have proven experience in emergency management or related field
- Possess excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Demonstrate strong leadership and team management capabilities
- Be able to work under pressure and make critical decisions
- Have a solid understanding of the CDEM Act 2002 and emergency management principles
- Be willing to travel regularly across the three district areas
