**The Organisation**

The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 staff, there are a diverse range of roles from front facing community to support and technical specialists.

**The Role / Person**

TDC’s Engagement & Culture Group is on the lookout for an Engagement & Culture (formally known as HR) Coordinator to get involved in a diverse range of activities that support our most vital resource - our awesome people This is a fixed-term role for 12 months to cover maternity leave. Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect:
Your challenge will be coordinating the day to day HR operations and administration processes for the team. You will be supporting with the full employee lifecycle, from preparing relevant employment documentation and implementing Health & Wellbeing Strategy activities, to preparing offboarding documentation when the employment relationship ends.

Working across the organisation, you will need to be a great communicator, both written and verbal, and have the natural ability to build rapport quickly to engage with our people at all levels.

We’re looking for a problem solver who can identify when pieces of the puzzle are missing and fill in the gaps. You’ll work efficiently whilst not compromising on attention to detail, and when it comes to juggling multiple priorities - you will have it covered.

Knowledge of employment legislation, an understanding of HR principles and practice and experience working with payroll would be an added advantage. Needless to say, you’ll be about as switched-on as they come.
