Mō te tūnga | About the role
Māori, Partnerships and Communities (MPC) has a regional presence throughout New Zealand, and we work with iwi/Māori building strategic partnerships for future endeavours.
MPC is responsible for leading our approach for engaging with partners and communities to co-design new and innovative partnerships and services with Iwi, Māori organisations, NGOs and other partners. MPC ensures the voices of tamariki, rangatahi and whānau are used to influence strategy, policy, practice, and operations across the organisation, so that their needs and aspirations are met.
The Manager Procurement will lead the Procurement team in a manner that shows the team what success looks like; and develop and coach the team. Skilled at empowering others and instilling passion in the team the position leads and manages the procurement of social services for Oranga Tamariki, ensuring social service sourcing aligns to Oranga Tamariki commissioning, strategic plans and organisational priorities. This role is accountable for the quality of procurement plans and processes and is required to ensure and assure that Oranga Tamariki is procuring in accordance with Government Rules of Sourcing.
Procurement must be carried out in accordance with our obligations under Section 7AA of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 as well as the Government Procurement Rules and Principles.

**Key requirements of the role include**:

- Ability to demonstrate leadership and management experience required to manage and support an engaged and motivated team
- Proven experience in developing a business strategy including delivering continuous improvements across the team
- The ability to network and make connections across Oranga Tamariki and other organisations
- Demonstrated communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly communicate technical information in plain language, both written and verbally
- Proven understanding and involvement in social services and the new requirements on Oranga Tamariki that relates to partnering (e.g. strategic partnerships with iwi and Māori)
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
