**About the role**:
The Procurement Manager is a new role within Greater Wellington. They will be responsible for leading and mentoring a growing team of procurement advisors and championing the evolution of effective procurement policy and practices to help Greater Wellington achieve its overarching strategic proprieties: improving outcomes for mana whenua and Māori; responding to the climate emergency; adapting and responding to the impacts of COVID-19; and aligning with Government direction.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Help grow, lead and mentor a team of procurement advisors
- Drives the design and implementation of effective procurement and contract management methodologies, policies and practices
- Develops and champions broader outcomes initiatives that align with Greater Wellington’s strategic priorities
- Maintains an accurate contract register and uses data and insights from the register and wider enterprise resource planning system to inform and advise senior and executive leadership teams to enable improved procurement and contract management practices
- Works with senior leadership across the organisation to improve procurement planning
- Uses and develops contacts and networks to foster a regional approach to procurement excellence
- Fosters supportive and collegial relationships within their team, group, and across Greater Wellington

**Key Requirements**:

- Formal qualification in procurement or comparable experience in a similar

position and a minimum of 10 years proven experience
- Demonstrated strategic focus
- A well-developed relationship management skillset that supports the development of procurement excellence through proof of value to stakeholders
- Leadership skills and a personal style that empowers, motivates and

encourages people to perform at their best, through recognising and valuing

their contributions and encouraging their development
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills and an ability to

communicate with a wide variety of groups and individuals.
