**The Organisation**

The Timaru District Council aims to enable democratic local decision-making and action by, and on behalf of communities, to promote the social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of its communities in the present and for the future. With around 400 staff, there are a diverse range of roles from front facing community to support and technical specialists.

**The Role / Person**

The Finance Team has a fantastic opportunity for you to join the team behind the delivery of our effective and efficient rating service

As the Rates Officer you will work in a small team responsible for developing and maintaining Council’s rating operations and debt collections, whilst providing **amazing service everyday**.

You will have strong interpersonal skills and be a first class written and oral communicator when dealing with internal and external customers. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy of work, with the ability to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines, is a must.
- What you’ll need to succeed:_
- Demonstrated rating, debt recovery and financial administration experience
- Ability to process and accurately maintain data and financial transactions
- MS Office skills and computer literacy - preferable use of Authority

Rates can be complex and previous exposure to Council rating systems is preferable but not essential - if you have a range of transferable skills and experience we want to hear from you

This is a permanent role and offers 40 hours per week.The annual salary for this role is $53,931 to $63,448 per annum.
