**Job Description** Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

This position will primarily support the Department of Exercise Sciences which comprises a team of academic staff and post-graduate students. The department is primarily located at the Newmarket Campus but also has teaching facilities at the Auckland City Campus. Providing specialised technical support for teaching and research laboratory activities, you will act as the go-to person for providing technical expertise to the implementation, use, and maintenance of lab equipment.

Essential Knowledge, skills and experience include:

- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Engineering or similar with 1- or 2-years relevant work experience
- Experience (2-5 years) working independently providing technical support with a wide range of related equipment, electronic hardware and technologies.
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment where understanding and developing design requirements are key to a successful project.

This is a fulltime (37.5 hours per week), permanent role

Remuneration: Band E range $58,300 - $67,551

A technically competent, problem solver you will be able to work in a team environment or independently. You will be a good communicator who is computer literate and have experience working with basis workshop tools as well as a good working knowledge of basic design and fabrication principles as well s electronics and electrical components.

The Faculty of Science’s Technical Services Team comprises over 100 technical staff providing specialist support to the faculty’s academic staff and students across 9 of the 10 Departments. They contribute technical knowledge and expertise to research and teaching activities while ensuring the ongoing operation and compliance of a vast range of laboratories, workshops, teaching facilities, research equipment, vehicles, and boats.
