The Performance and Quality Team support and enable the work of the Hawke's Bay Tairāwhiti Learning Support team to deliver effective services. This includes working alongside others to develop and implement new initiatives, lead workforce development through the provision of professional development and induction, managing contracts and funding for the sector, and providing data analysis to support continuous improvement. We work with others from across the ministry both locally and nationally.
Ko te mahi/ About the work
The Practice and Implementation Adviser Poukikiahurea provides leadership to shape quality effective services for mokopuna Māori with learning support needs within the key strategies: Ka Hikitia, Tau Mai te Reo, the Learning Support Delivery Model and He Pikorua.
They work with others across the organisation to build capacity and capability both within the MoE and externally. While the primary focus is within Learning Support, other contributions across the organisation are required.

**Tasks specific to the PIA Pouhikiahurea portfolio include**:

- Leading the design and implementation of induction and professional learning development programme for kaimahi in Learning Support, with a particular focus on working with Māori whānau
- Providing specialised advice, guidance and collaborative support across teams and work programmes in learning support to frame and strengthen indigenous and te ao Māori perspectives (e.g. recruitment process, SPP, National initiatives, wider LS PLD programme)
- Collaborating with SE&S teams and leadership outside Learning Support to ensure the perspective of mokopuna with learning support needs is visible
- Analyse data and performance trends to raise implications for service to Māori or resource equity
- Working with others to strengthen relationships with whānau, hapu, iwi, Kōhanga Reo me Puna Reo, Kura me Rumaki Reo deliver on Ka Hikitia me Tau Mai te Reo and Te Tiriti o Waitangi

**O paerau whai kiko/Relevant to the position**:

- Relevant qualifications and skills within Education and Māori Communities. Knowledge of Health and Social Services an advantage
- Demonstrated initiative, energy, and leadership
- Advanced knowledge of effective Learning Support service delivery in Māori and English medium contexts. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Te Reo Māori and English.
- Advanced skills in working collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals. A high level of conceptual and analytical capability, including reading, analysing and critiquing research from a te ao Māori perspective
- Ability to design and facilitate workshops and experience at effectively learning changes to practice
