The Ministry for Primary Industries are currently recruiting for a Portfolio Architect to join our Architecture & Assurance team based in Wellington.
Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
The Portfolio Architect is a key senior position within the Architecture & Assurance team.
You will be the trusted adviser to directors and senior managers in both business direction and technology needs, with the vision of taking the ‘art of the possible' and turning this into ‘the art of the doable'.
You will work to understand their strategic goals and drivers and provide technology roadmaps and conceptual solutions to enable the successful delivery of their business roadmaps, while working to achieve the goals and objectives set out by the business and wider MPI strategies.
Additionally, the Portfolio Architect works alongside other Portfolio and Domain-specific architects to develop MPI's enterprise architecture view and technology roadmap.
Mōu - About You
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive relevant Architecture experience at an Enterprise level from within a large and complex environment.
You will have proven experience with TOGAF or a similar framework, ArchiMate, and the Solution Development Lifecycle.
**Preferably, your technical experience will include**:
- Business consultancy or experience provide consultancy service to end users.
- Software/Platform as a Service
- Cloud/COTS based architecture adoption & integration
- Knowledge of business environments, strategic priorities, organisational strengths and weaknesses.
- Understanding of different delivery methodologies from waterfall to SAFe.
- Understanding of management policies relating to the Treaty Principles and the Crown's obligations to Māori.
Importantly, you will be able to engage in business and technical conversations at various levels, have excellent communication skills, be proactive, drive, and &outcome focussed, and someone who is able to offer effective solutions to problems.

Low level Security Clearance
- most preferably a New Zealand citizen, who has resided continuously in New Zealand for at least the last five (5) years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five (5) years: either Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
