**About the role**:
Join Genesis as Gas Forecasting Planner in this 12-month fixed term contract and play a key role in powering New Zealand's future. In this role, you'll manage Firstgas gas transmission system capacity reservations at a daily, weekly and annual level to optimise Genesis' current and forecast transmission systems capacity position. You will be the point of contact for the Transmission System Operator for industry initiatives and support and advise Genesis' retail and C&I gas sales teams on pricing, charging and reporting on gas transmission costs.
With a continuous improvement focus you will identify and progress opportunities to re-shape the business processes utilised in fulfilling the functions relating to gas demand forecasting, capacity reservation analysis and transmission pricing through the adoption of modern technology capabilities and solutions. Reporting to the Scheduling & Logistics Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop daily forecast gas usage to allow us to plan gas for our generation
- Analyse and develop the forecast for the Genesis Energy annual gas transmission capacity booking - balancing fixed capacity bookings to get the best value for Genesis.
- Collaborate with our industrial/commercial and retail teams to set customer pricing and assist in the preparation of the annual budget for the gas business.
- Develop and maintain sound working relationships with transmission and distribution companies and gas users/suppliers to understand usage and identify any system initiatives that could impact delivery of gas to our customers.
- Identify process automation opportunities in the gas forecasting space (e.g. use of AI/machine learning) and help develop a plan to implement business improvements.
- Support our technology transformation programme team to scope, design and implement technology related business improvement projects that enhance the business's capability to manage and undertake gas forecasting and gas nomination functions.
