**Eurofins Food and Water Testing New Zealand** provides range of class leading food, water, plant, soil and fertilizer testing, as well as horticultural services and technical solutions, primarily to the New Zealand market. With a staff of over 354 we operate laboratories in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Tauranga. We specialise in all Food types, Plants, Soils, Fertilizers, Potable Water, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Surface Water, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.

**Job Description**:
The role of Laboratory Technician is to prepare and transcribe customer samples into Eurofins Laboratory information management system (LIMs) keeping in mind efficiency, quality and accuracy standards as required by the company. Upon commencement of employment a training plan will be initiated for the Technician. This will include all basic testing tasks appropriate for the work area. As the Technician develops and becomes more competent and familiar with the Basic Job Responsibilities described below they may be trained in more advanced online and offline areas of the laboratory. This will be decided by the Section Supervisor and will be discussed with the Technician as part of their development plan.

Laboratory Technicians will:

- Become competent in interpreting customer analytical requests correctly in an efficient manner.
- Become competent in the laboratory work practices and requirements within each sections of the laboratory.
- Become familiar with all relevant laboratory procedures relevant to specific areas.
- Ensure Compliance to the 17025 standard at all times by adhering to the in house quality procedures provided.
- Complete all documentation on time, accurately and legibly.
- Keep training up to date and initiate training where possible when able to do so.
- Adhere to all company standards in the area of safety, housekeeping and quality, notifying a Senior Technician or Team Supervisor of any discrepancies.
- Keep the laboratory area clean and tidy.
- Ensure that the laboratory work area is stocked with necessary consumables and reagents etc.
- Housekeeping of laboratory is manintained, clean laboratory equipment as required, including fridges, incubators water baths etc.
- Ensure that all documentation relating to customer samples / results is filed.
- Provide cover for other members of staff as required.
- Be flexible to work in any area of the business as is required.

**Qualifications**:

- Attention to detail, proficient computer skills are highly essential
- Has a tertiary qualification in science or engineering
- Experience working within a fast paced commercial environment
- Must be available to work Tuesday to Saturday roster, starting at 9am
- Desire to continually learn and improve
