**Who are we**:
Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. **About the role**:
As Senior Network Engineer, you will be involved in the deployment and operation of our core network and core data centre. You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day 2nd and 3rd line operations and support of the network where your aim is to ensure the integrity of the network infrastructure and provide maximum performance for our users.
In addition you will have the opportunity to work across the organisation on:
- Maintenance and administration of computer networks and related environments
- Protecting data, software and hardware
- Contributing to the evaluation and implementation of new systems
- Continuous improvement of the Delivery of Operations process
- The progression of Network Infrastructure projects
This is a challenging role, where you will be provided with the training needed to be successful. When you’re up to speed, and there is an opportunity to be on-call if desired and you will be rewarded for this on top of your salary.
**What you’ll bring**:
- A strong Networking background with experience in Cisco or Juniper Routing and Switching
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under your own initiative
- Cloud networking experience in Azure or AWS
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop relationships at any level with key stakeholders
- A Recognised network certification i.e. Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIS-ENT, Palo Alto PCNSE
- Experience with Firewalls e.g. FortiGate, Palo Alto and Juniper
- Knowledge of Switching Protocols i.e. VLANs, STP, LCAP, VCP and VSS
