This is a new leadership role that plays a critical part in building capability within the Technology team in order to achieve our ambitions. Providing leadership, strategy and direction to the Software Engineering team, you will be accountable for defining and growing practices across our user experience, business analysis, software engineering and quality assurance disciplines. You’ll be working closely with our Chief Technology Officer and other senior leaders within the Technology team and the broader business to ensure we deliver on our strategy.

**Just some of the things you’re responsible for**:

- Defining and leading our software engineering practices, processes and principles to ensure consistency, quality and sustainability of the outcomes we deliver
- Oversee architecture and solution design, ensuring our architectural roadmap is aligned with the future state of our business.
- Design, implement and lead the Architectural governance forum
- Coach and support delivery teams and the broader business
- Ensuring our governance processes and solution design work adhere to risk management practices and implement and follow a ‘secure by design’ methodology

**You’ll need to have**:

- Highly effective leadership skills - you will be an adept communicator, change advocate, and influencer who can cultivate a high-performance culture across an Engineering team and lead effectively throughout different aspects of the employee experience (recruitment, onboarding, development, change, and performance management).
- Success in developing programmes and structures that embed best practice IT principles
- An action-oriented mindset - the ability to lead by example and create clarity and momentum across the team. You will have proven success managing peoples’ performance, financial budgets, and team resources.
- Hands-on experience in full stack development (.NET, C#,.NET Core, SQL, React), public cloud delivery (Microsoft Azure) and contemporary integration practices. Experience with MariaDB and Slim PHP would be helpful but not essential.
- At least ten years of leadership experience in software delivery is preferred.
