Seeking a HSEQ Manager for a leading subcontractor in the NZ industry
**Your new company**
Our client has been a leading subcontractor in the NZ Construction industry with over 30 years of being a dedicated specialist in their field. They have an extensive history of maintenance repairs, and seismic upgrades across commercial and residential sectors. Due to the quality of their work and delivery, they have established a strong reputation in the industry, they have fostered great relationships and secured contracts with Tier 1 and Tier 2 companies across New Zealand.
**Your new role**
Reporting to the director, your main objectives will be to support the directors, project managers and contract managers with all their health and safety requirements. You will be responsible for the health and safety of all staff, contractors and visitors. Tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Safety Leadership: Overseeing health and safety protocols, identifying potential hazards, and ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety programs aligned with industry standards.
- Employee Training: Train employees on health and safety policies and procedures.
- Incident Management: Investigate safety incidents, identify root causes, and propose preventive measures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety-related occurrences.
- Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Regulatory Liaison: Collaborate with regulatory bodies and represent the organisation during health and safety enquiries or inspections.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the NZ construction industry
- Must be iCAM trained
- A working knowledge of the New Zealand regulatory requirements and administrative frameworks and experience in dealing with regulators relating to managing health and safety
- Experience in issue management and risk mitigation
- Highly effective communication skills both oral and written at all levels to successfully achieve outcomes, including presenting information to a range of audiences
- Positive, result-targeted and professional approach
- Proven ability to manage challenging conversations and situations
