The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, to detect and disrupt high-impact cyber threats for nationally significant organisations.

**The role**

We are looking for Senior Policy Analysts to contribute to NCSC policy development and advice, as well as participating in inter-agency projects and liaising with stakeholders on a range of complex digital issues.

You will work with a team of policy and cyber security experts to help Ministers and senior leaders make well-informed decisions, including by:

- Setting cyber risk management expectations
- Contributing to the improved cyber resilience of Critical National Infrastructure, and
- Providing advice to ensure that cyber security is considered in wider digital transformation in the public service

**Who we're looking for**

Experience in leading, taking ownership and building relationships is key. This position will be best suited for someone with a tertiary qualification and at least 5 years of relevant work experience. You will need on the ground policy experience with a public sector background. In addition, you will ideally have:

- A comprehensive knowledge of the NZ public sector environment and experience working with Ministers
- Experience delivering high quality policy advice
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and
- An interest in digital policy, including intelligence and security issues

**Before you apply**

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.

**The expected appointment range for this position is $103,009 - $109,876 per annum
