Trade Assistant

Immediate start.

We are looking for 1 PERMANENT full-time (at least 30 hours guaranteed to maximum 60 hours per week, workdays from Monday to Saturday) competent Trade assistant to grow with our team.

Excellent opportunity to join a successful and well-established Auckland based construction company and become a part of a great team. Our work locations are across Auckland Region.

Construction Workers will be assisting tradesmen with their work, and the preparation of the site and materials. You should ideally be a great team player, have a site safety mind, be physically fit, punctual, and hardworking.

**No prior work experience is required for this role but could be an advantage. Priority will be given to local NZ residence/citizens.**

**Responsibilities**

ž Maintains overall safe work practices and adheres to safety policies and procedures

ž Can maintain safe and effective use of fit out decoration related tools and equipment

ž Maintains housekeeping, keeps worksite free of rubbish, keeps materials and equipment stowed in an orderly manner

ž Ability to ensure quality of own work

ž Ensure correct construction procedures are adhered to in compliance with New Zealand standards and project specifications

ž Able to receive and carry out verbal and written instructions

ž Ability to work as part of a team and within assigned roles

ž Conserves waste of consumables and other material

ž Accountable for completion of daily work assignments including the completion and signatures for work completion and quality

ž Able to learn on-the-job as an on-the-job trainee

ž Assists or works with other trades as directed

ž Monitors working environment for compliance with quality, safety, environmental and health regulations and report deficiencies to Leading Hands

**Main duties**:

Trades Assistant for Carpentry

ž Assist with carpentry functions such as but not limited to prefabbing accommodation cabins and various compartments under supervision

ž Assist with the lay-out and installation of bulkheads, furniture, ceiling ramps and tiles in accordance with drawings under supervision

ž Assist with the installation of internal fit-out doors including all locks and hold backs

ž Assist with the installation of ceiling grids in accordance with drawings

ž Assist with the cutting and install of all types of extrusions, draft stops and smoke boundaries

Trades Assistant for Tiling

ž Assist with laying stone/tile on wall and floor

ž Assist with stone/tile joinery elements

ž Follow directions when mixing and preparing grout

Trades Assistant for Painting/Wallpaper installation

ž Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, or electric switch covers and taping out, prior to painting by Tradesman
