**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
In 2019 the Ministry of Health led a process, co-designed with consumers, to hear directly from New Zealand men and women affected by surgical mesh. The resulting report, _Hearing and responding to the stories of survivors of surgical mesh: Ngā kōrero a ngā mōrehu - he urupare,_ highlighted the severity of the harm and the impact on the lives of those who experience complications from surgical mesh.
In response to this report and recommendations, a national service that specialises in the treatment and care of women with complications associated with surgical mesh is being established in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and Waitaha Canterbury districts.
The Administrator will be responsible for ensuring consumers can access the services they require through use of hospital booking and scheduling systems, management of the waiting lists and communication with the Clinical Teams inside and outside the organisation. The role is often a first point of contact for consumers and so has a responsibility to set the tone for creating a warm and welcoming connection to the Service and the team from the outset.
You will be working as part of a small supportive team with a challenging and meaningful programme of work.
**Mōu | About you**
You will be professional, have a strong health administration background with excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task and effective organisation skills. Possessing an insight into the lived experience of consumers who have experienced harm, pain and suffering from mesh implantation and removal is important.
**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
**You will have**:
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a willingness to learn and grow
- Empathetic and compassionate interpersonal skills
- Have a consumer-focused approach to all aspects of work
- Excellent keyboard skills
- Experience of working with patient booking and schedule system
- Self-motivated with a proven ability to ensure deadlines are achieved
- Ability to maintain a high standard of accuracy
**Nau mai, uru mai | Come and join us**
**Ko te mahi e tika ana mō te ao hurihuri nei | Work that suits today's ever-changing world**
This is a truly rewarding role where you will come to work each day making a difference, leading change, and creating capabilities across our health service. Te Whatu Ora supports flexible, and hybrid working and offers learning and growth opportunities for staff.
