**About the Role**

Te Whānau o Waipareira is looking for a dedicated and skilled Te Aka Kawa Practitioner to become a vital part of our whānau at the Wai-Clinic. In this role, you will guide and nurture the delivery of Kaupapa Māori psychotherapy and wellness services, designed to uplift and empower whānau and their families. Rooted in the wisdom of Te Ao Māori tikanga kawa, you will weave traditional knowledge and wellness systems to foster the holistic well-being and strength of our communities.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and deliver clinical and Kaupapa Māori therapeutic care for whānau experiencing mild to moderate stress.
- Provide various forms of therapy, including Whānau Systems Therapy, Behaviour Therapy, Talking Therapy, and Kaupapa Māori sensory modulation therapy.
- Perform core clinical duties such as risk assessments, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and identification of serious mental health or addiction concerns.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure effective, safe, and responsive service delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with whānau and key external stakeholders to support holistic well-being.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure adherence to quality management systems.

**About You**
- Full registration under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003 in one of the following fields: Nursing, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work.
- Alternatively, full registration as: An alcohol, drug, and/or gambling practitioner with DAPAANZ membership, A Social Worker.
- A current annual practising certificate is essential.
- Proven experience in mental health and addiction settings, particularly with Māori communities.
- Understanding and interest in Te Āo Māori, including Te Reo me ngā Tikanga Māori.
- Experience in kaupapa Māori approaches
- Strong assessment, analytical, and conceptual skills.
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks.
- High energy, innovation, and excellent interpersonal skills
- A clean full New Zealand Driver’s License
- Proficiency in or willingness to learn Te Reo Māori is preferred.
