We are a leading **Payment Service Provider** specialising in **Alipay, WeChat Pay, and China UnionPay** solutions, enabling seamless transactions for businesses worldwide. With a strong commitment to compliance, security, and trust, we are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented **Money Laundering Investigator** to join our compliance team.
The Money Laundering Investigator will play a crucial role in protecting Payplus against financial crime, fraud, and regulatory risks. This role is responsible for identifying, investigating, and reporting suspicious activities related to money laundering and terrorist financing, ensuring compliance with international and local AML/CTF regulations.
**Transaction Monitoring & Analysis**
- Review alerts generated by AML monitoring systems for unusual or suspicious activities.
- Perform in-depth investigations into customer transactions, patterns, and behaviours.
- Analyse client profiles, investment patterns, and financial transactions to identify unusual or suspicious activities.
- Conduct enhanced due diligence (EDD) on high-risk customers and merchants.
- Escalate and document cases that warrant further review.
**Suspicious Activity Reporting**
- Draft and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) / Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to relevant regulatory authorities.
- Maintain accurate case files and documentation for audit and regulatory review.
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies and financial intelligence units (FIUs) when required.
**Compliance & Risk Management**
- Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) with relevant authorities as required.
- Ensure investigations are conducted in line with AML/CTF laws, company policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Identify gaps in AML procedures and recommend improvements to strengthen controls.
- Support the development and calibration of monitoring rules and risk models.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**
- Work closely with other departments to investigate alerts and resolve cases.
- Provide input into Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes.
- Assist internal teams with compliance-related queries and training.
**Monitoring & Continuous Improvement**
- Assist in testing and improving transaction monitoring rules and systems.
- Stay updated on regulatory developments, financial crime trends, and typologies.
- Contribute to training staff on AML awareness and detection.
**Regulatory Awareness & Training**
- Stay updated with AML/CTF laws, FATF recommendations, and payment industry regulatory changes.
- Contribute to internal compliance training sessions by sharing investigation insights and case studies.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in risk investigations, compliance, financial crime, or fraud detection within banking, payments, or fintech.
- Strong understanding of AML/CTF regulations, FATF standards, and local jurisdiction requirements.
- Experience with AML monitoring tools, transaction surveillance systems, and case management platforms.
- Strong research, analytical, and investigative skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent report-writing and communication skills; ability to present findings clearly and concisely.
