Christchurch, New Zealand Te Wananga o Aotearoa Full time

**About us**

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa (TWoA) is New Zealand’s second largest tertiary institution and the world’s largest indigenous tertiary educator, and we’ve been providing transformational education opportunities to New Zealanders for nearly 40 years. Our vision of **‘Whānau transformation through education’** drives our commitment to being at the forefront of tertiary education underpinned by Māori culture and values.

**About the role**

Are you passionate about helping others succeed? We're looking for a caring and motivated **Disability Support Worker** to join our team on a casual basis in **Christchurch.**

In this role, you’ll walk alongside our tauira (students), providing tailored support both inside and outside of the classroom - including during wānanga and noho marae. Your mahi will empower tauira to achieve their goals by:

- Typing, notetaking, and helping them engage with learning materials and online tasks
- Coaching them to break down assignments and understand academic requirements
- Strengthening their skills in independent planning and time management
- Encouraging meaningful connections with Kaiako (teachers), peers, Tauira Services, and the wider learning environment

No two days are the same - you’ll work across various hours during the academic semesters, including occasional after-hours and weekend noho support.

**About you**

If you love working in a people-centered role where you can genuinely make an impact, we'd love to hear from you

You will also bring with you:

- A tertiary qualification, preferably with a qualification above the level of tauira you are supporting
- A relevant Teacher Aide Certificate, desirable
- Previous Teaching Aide experience preferred
- Experience in a pastoral role, coaching, mentoring, support, or teaching advantageous but not essential

As a kaupapa Māori organisation, your willingness to participate in cultural activities and develop an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga) will be key.
