School Nurse

Wellington Girls College has a focus on staff and student wellbeing, and we see the Nurse as being an integral part of the team.
We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for youth health to work part time. The start date will be 14 October 2024 or earlier by negotiation.
This is a permanent, part-time position, 30 hours per week, working between the hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday-Friday, term time only (work pattern negotiable).
This position sits within the Support Staff in Schools’ Collective Agreement. Remuneration between $40.00 to $49.00 per hour.
The person specifications will include (but are not restricted to)
- Providing health care for students
- Participating in Health education programmes
- Maintaining confidential health records
- Producing anonymised reports for use by the senior staff and Board of Trustees
- Maintaining the clinic and equipment in good working order
- Keeping adequate supplies and maintaining First Aid kits
- Referring student to outside providers as necessary
- Have a broad knowledge of clinical skills
The successful applicant will have:
- A current practicing certificate
- Empathy, tolerance and diplomacy
- The ability to remain calm and in control
- A proven history of working with young people
- Attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills - verbal and written
- An ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, youth agencies, local networks and
- other sectors
- The ability to maintain confidentiality
