Our team is based out of Pleasant Point and travels to operational sites across the South Island. Within the role, **you will be required to stay away for the working week (Mon through Fri)** which can vary between our houses in Twizel to shearer’s quarters and DoC huts. **What we offer our successful applicants**: - Competitive hourly wage - Shared accommodation while working away - Three meals per day while working away - Comprehensive medical/health insurance after 3 months of employment - National career advancement - Job security - Training and guidance This is a physically demanding field-based position that will take you deep into the native bush and high country. **The successful applicant will**: - Be physically fit and capable of carrying heavy loads across steep mountainous terrain, not for the faint hearted - Have experience in pest control or biosecurity work - Enjoy a native New Zealand - Have the ability to work away from the Pleasant Point HCC base - Possess good communication skills - Have the ability to drive off road vehicles - Have a strong commitment to health and safety - And most importantly, have a positive work attitude and a great work ethic **The following are desirable but not essential**: - A qualification or experience in pest control - A full class 1 Driver’s License - First Aid Certificate - Qualifications in ATV, LUV and 4WD use - GrowSafe Certification or Controlled Substance License - NZQA unit standards in chainsaw use or a qualification in plant pest management or in the forestry sector If you are passionate about the outdoors, fit, and dedicated to safeguarding New Zealand's natural values, join us at High Country Contracting and be part of a team committed to making a difference.
