**Job Description Summary**: The main purpose of the Project Engineer is to provide onsite technical support and instruction to the GE Hydro Service Oceania project team, and our customers, on hydro power station refurbishment projects.

This is a site based role with work primarily based in New Zealand, however work in Australia and other overseas locations may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide leadership and technical direction on turbine and generator refurbishment projects.
- Instruct labour performing work on customer sites, including dismantling, condition assessment, refurbishment, assembly, alignment, commissioning, trouble shooting.
- Perform administrative functions; such as writing technical reports, preparing ITP’s and Measurement record sheets, preparing Methodologies, ordering materials, obtaining quotations, reports to customers.
- Work in conjunction with GE Hydro Lead Centres on technical matters related to assigned projects.
- Respond to customer requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment.
- Plan, prepare and/or instruct both internal and external training programs as required, to impart and perpetuate field engineering and/or product knowledge in area of specialization
- Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
- Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and a reference for future outages

**Qualifications/Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you would possess:

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualification
- Minimum 3 years of experience working on hydro power generation refurbishment projects.
- Willingness and ability to travel to and work on projects mainly within New Zealand, with the possibility of other overseas projects as required.
