This is a full-time fixed term position for a 10-month parental leave cover based in our Thames office.
**_ About the role_**
The Governance Advisor role will work within the Governance Services team which provides high-quality support and advice services to our elected members and Council staff on governance matters, formal meeting requirements and decision-making processes.
From providing advice, preparing, and distributing agendas, taking minutes, and working on various projects with the team, no two days will be the same.
The role will be working primarily with our Community Boards so flexibility and travel will be required.
**_ About you_**
You will ideally be working in a governance role and/or in local government already and will have experience in interpreting legislation, preferably the Local Government Act and the Local Government Official Information and Meeting Act.
You will have high-level administration and communication skills and a track record in meetings management, as well as planning and skills that demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality, judgement, and discretion.
You'll enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, acting as a trusted advisor to provide sound, confident guidance during times when circumstances can change and move rapidly.
