The Christchurch City Council parks team is growing in a new and exciting direction. We want you to be part of our dedicated team.

The Metropolitan Parks Sports Turf Team are responsible for the development and maintenance of Green Assets throughout the City Council parks network. The Senior Irrigation Technician provides leadership and day to day management of the Christchurch City Council Parks irrigation network. You will have a high level of problem-solving ability and bring with you experience managing and repairing a variety of Irrigation systems.

We are looking for a passionate individual who will inspire their peers to ensure our Parks Irrigation systems are operating effectively meeting the diverse needs of the community we serve. You will promote a culture of continuous improvement; influencing change and encouraging our team to manage our Parks water use efficiently.

About the role_:_
- Lead and carry out proactive and reactive physical maintenance on the parks irrigation network as directed.
- Work with parks maintenance staff to ensure irrigations systems are programmed and running efficiently
- Identify and notify appropriate works that require Council's contractors to complete with appropriate time frames as well as remedy (where possible) and report hazards so that our park visitors and staff are safe.
- Programme and complete seasonal maintenance and auditing activities to ensure the irrigation network is operating optimally.

About you:

- As a minimum you will have 10 years relevant irrigation maintenance exposure with 5 years supervisory and project management experience
- An ability to build strong relationships across the business
- Previous leadership as well as technical experience
- Relevant Trade Qualification (Level 4 water Reticulation) and/or practical experience in a similar role
- IQP Backflow Certification
- Full driver's license
