Presbyterian Support Southland (PSS) is a Charitable Trust and is the largest social service and aged care provider in Southland, supporting the Southland community for over 100 years.
PSS encompasses two service arms - Enliven, which offers services for the older generation including residential aged care, retirement living options and support while living at home, and Family Works, which offers a range of social services.
We work to enable a positive and lasting change for everyone in our community and offer support services to people regardless of their beliefs, ethnicity or background.
**The Role**:
We currently have full time permanent vacancies (minimum of 30 hours per week) available for Care Workers across our residential aged care homes based in Gore and Invercargill.
The purpose of the roles are to provide quality care-giving support to Residents in the facility and undertake senior care worker responsibilities which can include administration of medicines, health and safety promotion, infection control liaison and the training and supervision of other staff.
Our aged care facilities provide care for our residents 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Given this the role involves shift work as rostered and includes weekend work.
**Key responsibilities**:

- Assisting residents with their personal needs e.g. eating meals, hydration, skin integrity support, personal hygiene
- Encouraging residents to socially interact and take part in activities
- Accurately recording observations

**What you will need to be successful**:

- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues
- Able to work across a 24/7 roster
- Previous experience working with the elderly preferred
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or willingness to study towards this.
