This role is a permanent full-time position located in central Wellington.

The Ministry for Regulation is a small government agency with a big job to do.

We’re focused on lifting quality across all regulatory systems and supporting agencies with regulatory responsibilities to align with good practice. **What you’ll be doing**:

- Taking the lead on Cabinet papers, briefings, and Ministerial correspondence, contributing to Official Information Act requests, parliamentary questions, and other ad hoc requests from Ministers.
- Supporting key stakeholder engagement activities, giving you the opportunity to connect with a wide range of people and agencies to advance improvements in regulatory systems.
- Working collaboratively with others to understand issues and develop practical solutions for inclusion in review findings.
- Undertaking research and analysis of regulatory systems under review.
- Contributing to continuous review and improvement of our approach to reviews.

**What you’ll bring**:

- 5+ years’ experience in regulatory operations, operational policy or regulatory policy
- A tertiary qualification (or equivalent government experience), with a background in regulatory policy, economics, operational policy or regulatory operations, including understanding of legislation
- Strong understanding of government processes, policy frameworks, and the machinery of government
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex ideas and influence effectively
- Proven ability to lead work independently and support others in a team setting
- Strategic thinking and political acumen
- Team player attitude, willing to support, coach and mentor others in the team
- A genuine commitment to improving regulation for all New Zealanders.

**Salary range**:$108,126 - $143,618 dependent on skills and experience.
