Deputy Chief Executive Aviation Security
The Civil Aviation Authority and the Aviation Security Service offer distinctively different career opportunities and embrace diverse talent. All jobs at the Authority contribute to ensuring safe and secure skies to help New Zealand fly.
The Civil Aviation Authority is the regulatory arm of our organisation and the Aviation Security Service is the nationwide provider for aviation security.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is New Zealand's civil aviation safety and security regulator.
CAA exists to keep the aviation system safe for the public and for people who work in it and use it, as well as keeping it protected (secure) from people who may wish harm to those using and working in it. A safe and secure aviation system maintains New Zealand's international reputation and supports positive economic and social outcomes.
To ensure delivery of these outcomes CAA:
- Regulates people (those who work in, and are customers of, aviation - including pilots, engineers, air traffic controllers and passengers), organisations, aircraft, and aviation infrastructure.
- Carries out regulatory functions, including engagement, education, communication, certification, licensing, monitoring (including audit and inspection, screening of passengers and non-passengers), investigation and enforcement.
Dedicated to evolving as a modern regulator, CAA is going through a period of transformation. As a result of this change, a new role - Deputy Chief Executive Aviation Security - has been created on the organisation's Executive Leadership Team.
Reporting to the Director of Civil Aviation (Chief Executive) of CAA, the DCE Aviation Security will be responsible for senior system leadership of CAA's Aviation Security function. They will ensure frontline security capability (including the Aviation Security Service (AvSec) and related functions) as well as security certification, monitoring and response activities deliver security outcomes. They will be expected to continuously improve operations, adapt to a dynamic and demanding sector, and lead a diverse workforce of ~1500 people.
**Applications close at 5pm on the 25th of February.
