**Mō te tūranga | About the role**
- Permanent full-time position.
- Reporting to the Freshwater and Marine Biosecurity Lead.
- Provide technical advice on marine biosecurity internally and to our customers.
- Support the implementation of council’s surveillance and advocacy programmes across the region.
- You will develop and manage contracts, building and maintaining iwi, landowner and stakeholder relationships.
- This role is diverse and will include an ideal mix of time in the office, and out in the field with occasional weekend and evening engagements.

**About you**
- Understand ecological processes and pest management technologies.
- Have a friendly personality (keen sense of humour) and be able to forge great relationships and strike up a conversation with anyone.
- Be passionate about our marine environment and love spending time in and on the water.
- Enjoy delivery of comprehensive projects including planning, implementation, review, and reporting.
- Be able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.
- Above all, enjoy building and maintaining strong and positive relationships.

**Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience**
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a biosecurity related field (e.g. Marine biology, behaviour change or pest management).
- A tertiary qualification or relevant industry training is required.
- Previous practical experience in a pest management field or compliance experience would be an advantage.
- Well-developed project management skills are a pre-requisite for this role.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
