**We want more good people to come and do great things with us.**
**We love where we live. That's why we work so hard to look after our region and the people who live and work in the Waikato region.**
**Our work is as diverse as the region we care for; from the tip of the Coromandel Peninsula to the slopes of Ruapehu. We've got ambitious goals and there are some tricky issues, but that's what makes it so interesting.**
We are seeking a high-performing Land Drainage Manager to oversee and deliver the strategic and operational work of Council's land drainage programme, within the Integrated Catchment Management (ICM) directorate. The ICM directorate is the operational arm of Council that undertakes flood control, land drainage, river management, and catchment management (including land management, biosecurity and biodiversity) activities on behalf of our communities.
Your focus will be to service the Waikato Regional Council's Franklin Waikato, Central Waikato, Aka Aka-Otaua and Thames Valley drainage areas through planning and delivery of the drainage programme across 91 drainage districts. This work includes the development of annual and long-term work programmes, budget oversight, and strategic guidance of the drainage activities.
This role will work closely with the Operations Team Leaders, Operations staff, constituent elected members, and the Waikato Zone managers within ICM. To support engagement with the team, you would ideally be flexible in working across the operations depots, as well as Council’s Head Office in Hamilton.

- Knowledge in agricultural systems and ideally drainage
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to build effective relationships and maintain a customer focus
- A high level of planning and organisational skills, with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise programme deliverables within agreed budgets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
