Bring your strategic thinking and valued engineering experience to Transpower
- Lead Engineering Standards initiatives and drive continuous improvement
- Enjoy intellectual challenge in our collaborative and supportive environment
- Drive standardisation and improvement in transmission infrastructure, safety and reliability. Help enable a net-zero carbon future._
Transpower's core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand: a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system.
Our transmission network includes over 12,000km of transmission lines, 25,000 transmission towers and 170 substations - assets that are worth more than $5 billion and provide direct benefit to Aotearoa.
Our Grid Development division is responsible for identifying and conveying our future Grid needs up to 30 plus years ahead and develops transmission asset management strategies to meet our strategic objectives as outlined in Our strategy | Transpower.
Tactical Engineering and Estimation provides engineering support and expertise to the planning, investigations and project delivery functions within Grid Development. It ensures that Transpower's objectives are met through quality, cost-effective engineering design which is carried out by external Engineering Consultants.
Enquiries to connect to the Grid from generators, distributors, and end-users have doubled in the past three years and these projects are cheaper and faster to build than ever before. We are working hard to ensure we can respond by offering connections faster and more efficiently.
**About the team**
Our Substations teams in Grid Development provide essential project engineering services that keep our nation powered. Working closely with the Tactical Engineering Group, the Substations teams develop projects with an emphasis on cost-effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring that grid requirements are met and risks managed.
The teams provide engineered solutions that minimise risk and maximise value for New Zealand energy users. This is achieved via creating and updating Transpower station standards, specifications, and standard designs as well as providing technical support to both internal and external user of Transpower standards.
