**_ The Team: _**What we do**

The Adult Inpatient in the Specialist Mental Health Services of the Canterbury District Health Board, provides specialist assessment and treatment to people (aged 18-65) whose everyday life is significantly affected by mental health unwellness. We are currently recruiting a Social Worker to join our team of dedicated health professionals striving to provide the best quality care to consumers and their families/whanau.

The Inpatient Team, based at Hillmorton Hospital is a multi-disciplinary mental health team comprised of Psychiatric Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Registrar, and administration staff. The inpatient service is based at Hillmorton hospital

This is a 16 hour permanent position. There maybe opportunity to add to these hours with another Social Work role in the SMHS.

**_ The Role:_** Where you fit in**

You will be a NZ registered Social Worker or overseas equivalent and be working with adults who have a range of mental health issues with the aim of decreasing the impact on consumers, their families, caregivers, significant others, and the community. Central to your success and enjoyment in this role will be your excellent communication and team work skills, an ability to build rapport with consumers, families and health providers and your interest in developing inpatient mental health Social Work practice

In particular, you would contribute your significant social work knowledge to the service - s strong focus on family/whanau and cultural inclusive practice in an inpatient setting.

Supervision and support will be provided by the Social Workers in the SMHS. The successful applicant will be supported to attend appropriate training courses relevant to this clinical social work role.

To succeed in this position it is essential you will;
- Be a registered New Zealand Registered Social Worker or have eligibility to obtain.
- Have a background in Mental Health
