We have an exciting new opportunity for a Manufacturing Shift Manager to join our NZ Opal Fibre Packaging site at Wiri.

Opal Fibre Packaging is New Zealand’s leading supplier of corrugated cardboard box packaging. With manufacturing sites based in Auckland, Hastings and Christchurch, Opal Fibre Packaging brings the local presence and depth of experience required to develop innovative customer solutions in line with our Vision; Opal shapes the future through sustainable packaging.

The primary focus of this role will be to lead the safe and effective operation of the relevant Production shift. In this role you will plan, organise, lead, coach your team to ensure the manufacture of product safely, on time, in-full, to customer specification and within budgeted cost levels.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Having a safety-first approach at all times, ensuring you develop a work culture of safety accountability
- Being responsible for ensuring production plans are achieved on time
- Investigating and problem solving any quality issues with your team and putting sustainable corrective action in place
- Developing, coaching, mentoring and working with your team to deliver ongoing uplift in performance
- Understanding, supporting and implementing manufacturing excellence programs

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;
- At least 3 years’ experience in a leadership role within manufacturing, ideally within the packaging industry or a related field
- Demonstrated experience implementing manufacturing excellence to deliver sustainable improvements
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to influence and manage change
- Experience recruiting, coaching, managing, and mentoring effective teams
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and sponsor projects to deliver step change in performance
