Meat Manager

We’re after the best Meat Manager in the country. We have a massive opportunity in front of us for growth and we’re after someone who can be hands on when they need to be, can manage a team and grow the department. We’ve experienced double digit growth for many years and the meat category has been pivotal to Gilmours’ overall success. _
- The Meat Manager will take on an additional remit - this is why we need the best. We want the new manager to help our sales team branch into new sectors of the market, be it businesses within our Foodies banner, manufacturing - wherever we can sell lots of meat We need someone who can visit our customers and propose solutions that our Reps wouldn’t necessarily know.- To be really successful in this role you need to have an analytical mind, great attention to detail, understanding of SAP, butchery knowledge, sales acumen and an ability to close plus a bucket load of motivation._

We are currently looking for a confident, self-motivated person with a high attention for detail to join the team based in Manukau.

**As our Buyer and Manager for the Meat department you will be responsible for**:

- Manage the Buying Programme and deliver on commercial outcomes to drive department growth.
- Build and grow strong relationships with external suppliers
- Build relationships with the wider team and leadership to get the very best results
- Work with the buying team on long-term strategy and direction to ensure we stay ahead of the trends
- Maintain stock levels at optimum level, negotiate, partner, and communicate with suppliers to get the best deals for our customers.
- Manage all stock control systems and processes, and make sure appropriate procedures are in place
- Undertake necessary administrative functions of the role. Complete paperwork audit - ensure all paperwork is up to date.
- Replenishment of the Meat department to ensure it exceeds store standards and customer expectations.

**What are we looking for?**
- Buying experience is advantageous. FMCG market awareness and Industry knowledge are key.
- Confident with retail/FMCG systems, CRM tools e.g Salesforce and SAP
- Strong communication (verbal and written), relationship management, negotiation and networking skills who is customer focused.
- Strongly Analytical skills and strategy development, Computer literate
- Ambitious, motivating, results orientated manager
- A manager who leads from the front by demonstrating and living the Gilmours values. With the ability to listen, advise and come up with commercially, customer driven, solutions
- Ability to communicate and influence across internal/ external stakeholders
- A love of food and experience in the foodservice industry is highly desired
- Proven management of staff. Strong Relationship Builder, Team Player and Problem Solver
- Have a valid work permit or NZ Citizen.
