**Lead AUT's fundraising and join our high-performing Vice-Chancellor's Office**:
- ** Develop strategy, build strong relationships, cultivate and solicit gifts**:
- ** Great work-life balance, hybrid work arrangements and staff benefits**:
- ** Part-time or full-time available, either as a permanent or fixed-term appointment**
AUT is dynamic and vibrant with a hugely diverse body of students, staff and partners. As one of the world's top 50 young universities, New Zealand's newest and second highest ranked, AUT is the university of opportunity where all students with talent and potential have the chance to succeed. AUT has over 29,000 students and around 4,000 staff across our three Auckland teaching campuses.
AUT is a leading tertiary provider changing lives, and our vision and mission makes us an attractive proposition to philanthropists wanting to make a difference to the future of New Zealand. We are becoming more strategic in our fundraising focus, and there is huge opportunity for growth in this area as part of a high-performing and integrated external relations team that sits within, and has the full support of, our Vice-Chancellor's Office. This exciting new era for fundraising at AUT is an exceptional opportunity to get in on the ground floor as we build a highly valued community of partners to help AUT deliver on its mission, now and into the future.
Reporting to the Head of our Vice Chancellor's Office (HVCO), we are seeking a seasoned fundraiser who is an exceptional relationship builder for this ever-changing role. You must enjoy getting out from behind the desk, going out and meeting people, and being excited about the prospect of selling the AUT story and the impact we have. You'll thrive in an externally facing role where you will become the front-line person for fundraising at AUT and a key ambassador for the University. All systems are in place to help you succeed - our fundraising database and back-room function is well organised and current, with excellent administrative support for research, data management, recording and reporting. The software we use is Raiser's Edge.
Key focus areas of the role will include:
- Working closely with senior leaders across the University to develop, and implement, a fundraising plan to support AUT's strategy (with the support from the HVCO).
- Cultivate fundraising leads, develop strong ongoing relationships with targeted individuals, trusts and foundations, help to create compelling proposals and work through to soliciting major gifts from these potential donors.
- Manage AUT's relationship with existing donors.
This role has a high level of autonomy and holds a privileged position being part of the Vice-Chancellor's Office. In addition to providing fundraising expertise and being a valued and trusted enabler and advisor, you will need a high level of emotional intelligence, be trustworthy and embody integrity and confidentiality. You will value diversity and work inclusively. We are deadline-driven and work hard; but also embrace work-life balance. You can split your time between being on one of our three campuses (in the city centre, in South Auckland or on the North Shore) and working from home. AUT also offers a range of staff benefits.
**_ Please see the detailed position description for more information on key job accountabilities._**
**Applications and Key Selection Criteria**
Along with your CV, please ensure to submit a cover letter which explains why this particular role (and AUT) is of interest, and how your experience aligns with the key experience and attributes we're seeking below:
- At least 5 years fundraising experience. This will include a proven track record successfully building external partnerships, networking, attracting donors and soliciting significant gifts and funds. A deep understanding of the steps required to secure gifts is critical.
- Strong networks across industries/communities. Ideally this will include at least one of the following communities/industries: Health, Education, Rainbow, Equity. Prior knowledge and understanding of the tertiary sector and its networks would also be advantageous.
- A warm and welcoming nature aligned with AUT's Values (tika, pono, aroha). A positive, proactive and intuitive mindset with a proven work ethic that meets deadlines. You'll thrive working as part of a high-performing and collegial team. Very high levels of confidentiality, integrity and a commitment to excellence are essential.
- Applicants are welcome to add further comments they may feel of relevance. It is expected that the appointee would also hold a relevant tertiary qualification.
