Mō te tūnga | About the role
The National Provider and Services (NPS) team is a part of the wider Partnership Team, which is responsible for high quality relationship management of a portfolio of 40 Non-Government Organisations (NGOs). Some of those provider relationships are led by experienced partnership managers with the support of the NPS team. The remainder of the provider relationships are managed directly by the NPS team members. Your work, and the work of the wider team, will ensure our partnerships with our social service partners are aligned to the overall strategy of Oranga Tamariki.
Reporting to the Team Leader National Providers and Services, you will use your understanding of contract management to support, maintain and develop the relationships we have with a group of contracted national service providers to ensure they can help us meet the needs of the tamariki and whānau we work with.
You will work with others within the NPS team to ensure best-practice contract management at Oranga Tamariki. You will also have the opportunity to support programmes and projects that aim to maximise better outcomes from the services we fund. Of critical importance will be your ability to work collaboratively and proactively across a dynamic team and be focussed on the experience of tamariki and their whānau.
- Work with providers to identify and maximise their contribution to improving outcomes for tamariki and their whānau.
- Support best practice contracting and monitoring processes
- Work collaboratively with other Advisors in the team
- Provide support to the Senior Advisors and Partnership Managers
- You will have strong skills and experience from operating at an advisor level and can demonstrate:

- Proven experience of contract management
- An understanding of the machinery of Government and political awareness
- An understanding of key issues affecting contracting services in a social services environment
- Experience in working with service providers at a community level

If you can exercise good judgement and sound decision making skills whilst keeping an open mind and the flexibility to think outside the square, then one of these roles may be the next step for you. You must be able to confidently interact at all levels of Government, NGOs, Community, Iwi/Māori, and Pacific people's organisations.

- Proven successful experience of contract management, negotiation and monitoring
- Sound understanding of the machinery of Government and political awareness
- Sound understanding of key issues affecting contracting services in a social service environment
- Experience in working with service providers at a community level
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural issues and concerns, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical thinking skills
- Is innovative and keen to explore and evaluate new operational delivery practices and approaches
- Anticipate and resolves problems, making decisions based on sound risk management analysis
- Ability to communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences and build and maintain rapport with others
