As an intelligence professional in the NZ Police this will be your focus every day. Intelligence is an indispensable enabler for NZ Police, producing approximately 50,000 products each year. Some products are short and tactically focussed, supporting day-to-day decision making, while products are more in-depth with a longer-term focus to inform the development of long-term operational plans and organisational strategy. The Canterbury District Intelligence Unit is looking for an individual to join their team as an Intelligence Analyst. We require someone who is self-motivated, innovative, inquisitive, committed to excellence, resilient, and firmly focussed on enabling our frontline and enhancing decision-making in NZ Police. **About the team** The Canterbury District Intelligence Unit provides direct support to tactical, operational, and strategic Police decision-making, to prevent crime and harm at a district level. Our team provides forward thinking insights into the nature of crime and harm by identifying trends, and forecasting future threats, risks, and opportunities. The District Intelligence Unit operates in a dynamic environment producing strategic products for senior management as well as support to frontline policing including operations, criminal investigations, and offender management. **Key Accountabilities**: - Use critical thinking skills and analytical tools and techniques to interpret information and data to understand problems and provide solutions. - Develop intelligence products that exceed customer needs and effectively influence decision makers. - Contribute to core intelligence reporting and deliverables of the wider team. - Develop and maintain a wide range of professional relationships. - Take ownership of work through to the delivery of expected outcomes in a timely manner. - Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends relating to crime and harm. - Consider and champion diversity, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all intelligence outputs. - Contribute to a high-performing team culture and engage positively with stakeholders. **He aha taau e kawe mai | What you'll bring** Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - A positive and engaged work-ethic and mindset. - An ability to manage competing priorities and maintain quality outputs under pressure and within strict timeframes. - Knowledge and experience of best practice Intelligence processes. - Quantitative and qualitative problem-solving skills and analysis. - The ability to manage competing demands and deliver quality products within strict timeframes. - Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively within teams and with stakeholders. - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). **Whakaritenga motuhake | Special requirements** - Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline. - Successful applicant must reside in Canterbury. - Hold a full driver licence or be able to complete early in employment. - Able to work a range of rostered hours and days and may occasionally be required to work outside of set work hours and at alternative locations for operational reasons.
